the fact that fairy tales were originally intended to teach life's lessons to young boys and especially girls; one such example is the tale of Little Red Riding Hood. contrary to popular belief; the brother Grimm's version was not an original piece of word, but a watered down children's version embellishing and omitting key elements from the original text by Charles Perrault, which in turn was an inspired variation of a folktale

the grimms version stresses the importance of obedience and spiritual salvation. a woods man is introduced in this version in order to save and allow Red a second chance, where as the original text stresses the sexual nature of the situation Red has created and allowed to escalate.

Petit Chaperone Rouge, written during the romance era in which political liasons to raise a woman's social status were highly looked upon, is a contradictory tale which stresses that a woman must remain chaste in order to conserve her worth for arranged marriage. the task of properly educating and guiding the maiden fell upon the "hood". should a girl fall prey to her desires; the most lenient punishment was disownment by the family, and in extreme cases it was the family's responsibility to execute her. in order to protect their commodity, it was legally persissable to have the girl placed in a convent until the moment of transaction was to take place.

Perrault's story in essence is a tale of seduction in which the "wolf" represents men who prey upon the innocence on young women, and is in fact a term which has survived to this day. the wolf tempts red under the guise of friendship in order to obtain information in which he in turn may use against her. the wolf is the epitome of man's core essence; one of irrational thought who soley thinks of satisifying one's desires through agression and irrational thought.

red herself is not without fault as she is a child in essance and not fully aware of the ways of the world. the "hood" she wears is not limited representation of her naiveity, as the hood itself when worn limits her perephrial vision (not being able to see the big picture), but the color itself implies the degree of her sin and the social scandal which will ensue.

Petit Chaperone Rouge urges young women to practice common sence (young girl informing dangerous creature of whereabouts) as well as encourage them to refrain from impulsive thought. a girl must question a man's underlying motives before granting unlimited trust in an absolute stranger. she must guard her "worth" and self espect with the same intensity as follow the instruction of the "hood" which guides her through the murk of adolesence in order to successfuly reach adulthood.

victorian imagery broad sighted the subtle undertones of Little Red Riding Hood with depections of a disroped woman in bed as a woolf looms over, jaws preparing to clamp on her neck. the caption underneath this imagery reading "she has seen the wolf" french slang for loosing one's verginity. the fact that she is about to perish at the jaws of the wolf is also representative of yet another term which has survived to this day, le petit morte -the little death, or as one commonly refers to the act of climax as momentary death. the fact that the wolf's sole motivation is eating red is further implication of the act which is to "cum". one may speculate that this theory may have fed the 1950's belief in a chaste woman is good as gold, where as premarital sex was equivical to damnation.

granted Perrault's version does not include a savior and red is lost to the jaws of the wolf greately implies the degree a deflowed woman was frowned upon.

little girls this seems to say
never stop upon your way

never trust a stranger-friend
no one knows how it will end

as you are pretty so be wise
wolves may lurk in every guise

'tis simple truth, sweetest tongue has sharpest tooth

                                 -Charles Perrault
It may be a few months before I can really start shooting again. When I do, would you like to come and hang out and participate during a shoot? I'd like to meet you, and it's entirely possible I may want to use you as a model once I get to know you.

i'm beginning to believe i was right; i was better off sticking to photography. still i had to satisify my curiosity and try my hand as a model...couldn't leave well enough alone

The Vampire of Hanover (True Story by the Way)

just a funny little story i thought i'd share...

Born in Germany in 1879, Mr. Haarman was a military man who as a child openly showed hatred toward his father. Arrested at the age of seventeen he was arrested for child molesting; it was concluded that he was a mentally disturbed individual, and institutionalised.

Escaping soon after and having made his way back home; impreginated a young lady and became engaged. The child was stillborn and the wedding called off.

Joining the military, Haarman did exceptionally well and was discharged for medical reasons in 1903. Spending the next ten years in prison for constant minor offences and criminal activity.

Around 1917 Haarman met Hans Grans (a male prostitute), who later became his partner in crime. Bringing young boys home for dinner and plenty of alcohol; they would wait until their victims would fall into a stuperous sleep, then Haarman would bite the sleeping boy in the neck; allowing them to bleed to death.

The bodies were then sold as steaks in the "underground" meat market from 1918-1924 (not too long). The unsellable meats, bones, and organs were disposed of in a canal.

The police already having been suspicous of Haarman due to past activity; questioned him about the missing persons throughout the past six years. In 1924 a skull floated to the canal surface, which became his undoing.

With the victims clothes still in the house; sufficent evidance was found to convict (how stupid can you be?). Haarman later confessed and at his own request was decipated in public execution, December 1924.

Grans served only twelve years in prison.

Story taken from
Vampires: The Occult Truth
